We have all heard the expression “birds of a feather flock together.” Is this idiom true, or pure idiocy?
There is a reason this is a commonly used phrase. When we arrive in a new location, job, friendship, etc. we seek out those who seem most like us. There is comfort in feeling like you are not starting a journey alone.
But that comfort should not ever stop you from taking time to re-evaluate your surroundings. There just might come a season when you need to migrate to a new flock; one where your feathers, your spirit, values, and energy are the norm and not the exception. When you do, you may literally, and figuratively, broaden your horizons.
