Hidden amongst the skyline of downtown Birmingham, the @tjtower boasts a unique bit of history.
In 1929, the building opened hoping to be the crowning gem of Birmingham’s hotel scene. It’s owners believed zeppelins to be the future of air travel, so they installed a mooring mast to accommodate the air traveling guests.
Though the building never saw a zeppelin and was eventually condemned, recent renovations have restored the hotel and mooring mast to its early 20th century glory. Now all it needs is a zeppelin….
