In my upcoming “In the Magic City” series, each week I will feature a drone photo of an iconic landmark or location within the city of Birmingham. Up first, Rotary Trail
To celebrate their 100th year of service to the city, the @rotaryclubbirmingham donated a large portion of the funds to transform abandoned railroad tracks into a pedestrian footpath.
Their gift epitomizes @rotaryinternational's vision statement:
“Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
The .36 mile long pedestrian trail is one of many footpaths that make up the Red Rock Trail System: 750 miles of proposed trails, parks, and bike lanes that will promote active and healthy lifestyles for the citizens of Jefferson County.
